Your Guide to Cheap El Salvador Flights!

El Salvador Airport

All flights arrive at El Salvador Comalapa International Airport (SAL). There are so many airlines, that offer regular daily flights to El Salvador from all over the world (too many to mention).

What I like about flying to El Salvador is that there are so many options and deals to choose from that you can't really just go with the first offer.

Check here for some of the cheapest El Salvador flights.

When we are flying down to El Salvador, we usually take a connecting flight at either Houston or Los Angeles. I like doing that because they have several flights to El Salvador daily so if you happen to be delayed, you can easily get a seat on the next flight.

Things to know before booking your flight

  • Many direct flights to El Salvador are available, though they are more expensive than those with stops, so if you don't mind a flight with a stop or two, you'd be saving some money
  • In the month of December, flights to El Salvador are in high demand, this is because many Salvadoreans who live abroad, go back home at this time to visit their families, so of course, high demand drives the price of the tickets up
  • If you still want to go in December, make sure you book your flight to El Salvador early, and I mean way early (August - September) and pay for the flights right away, that way you secure your seats
  • If you don't really care to go in December, then we would recommend waiting until the new year - mid January to February, when the travelling frenzy has died down, the Comalapa International Airport is less busy and the weather less hot!
  • Another thing you should think of is knowing what immunizations you may need. Make sure to consult with your doctor. It's better to get them before you arrive in El Salvador as your body may react to a different style of food or climate
  • Also, depending on the country of citizenship, a visa or a tourist card may be necessary, so ensure you have all the proper documentation before you take that flight to ensure a smooth arrival at Comalapa International Airport in El Salvador

If you are already in the Central America region, you can also opt for driving to El Salvador if you have the time and I know that many people do that, I guess it makes for an exciting road trip!
