There's no doubt about, Salvadorian food is delicious, you are in for a real treat!

Cooking styles vary in different parts of El Salvador so depending on where you are some Salvadorian recipes will vary slightly.

And also some dishes are made only in certain areas of El Salvador, so when visiting, we like to eat those things that are local in every little town we go!

San Vicente, for example, is popular for the delicious (pan dulce) sweet pastries like Chachama, Afrechin, Alemana and my favourite Maria Luisa. I also love the Totopostes from Chinameca in San Miguel.

The juice from 2 or 3 limes (depends on your taste)

  • When cooked and soft, take it out of the pot and let it cool
  • Using a food processor or by hand, finely chop the meat and put it a large bowl
