El Salvador news headlines

Soccer World Cup Qualifier: Unfortunately Trinadad and Tobago beat El Salvador 1-0 at the August 12th match making El Salvador’s chances of making it to the 2010 World Cup slim.

The only chance for El Salvador to qualify is to win their next match against United States on September 5th in Utah. El Salvador needs 3 points to keep alive in the qualifiers so they need to win this up coming match!

A win for El Salvador would turn a four-team race into a really tight five-teamer - wow! This is when it gets really exciting. So let’s hope El Salvador does well and it’s a victory for the underdog in Utah - hey you never know!

In August

The month of August is full activities in El Salvador. The kids are off school for about 2 weeks due to San Salvador's festivities (Fiestas Agostinas) - it's kind of like Easter time all over again in San Salvador.

Many people take advantage of the free time to - yes, you guess it - hit the beaches of El Salvador.

San Salvador itself is full of activities, the fair has lots of fun and games for the entire family. Also, Feria Consuma (Consumer's Fair) is a hit during August.

Feria Consuma is held at the International Fair Grounds. There are lots of food, live shows, games and of course, lots of shopping to do at this fair. Feria Consuma was held from July 31st - August 9th this year.

Featured Hot Spot

No doubt Costa del Sol is one of the most beautiful beaches in El Salvador. What I like the most about Costa del Sol are the amazing sunsets. I always like to stay at this beach overnight just so I can watch the sunset and the sunrise the next morning while listening to the waves hit the beach. I think this is one of the most relaxing experiences!

But Costa del Sol is so much more than sunsets and sunrises. This area is well developed with many resorts and smaller hotels, and it’s only about 20 minutes from Comalapa International Airport, so it’s really easy to get to.

What can you do at Costa del Sol? So much to do, you’ll need to stay for a few days to try everything! For example…

You can do deep sea fishing for Blue Marlin, there’s even an international fishing competition held at Bahia Dorada Hotel and Marina in Costa del Sol. You can also try fishing at the Jaltepeque estuary. Another great thing to try at the estuary is kayaking, there are several kayak rental places or you can even hire a tour company to take you.

Also at La Puntilla, there are some local boat operators who offer tours around the estuary and mangroves. This is an excellent way to be able to appreciate the flora and fauna of the area.

There’s also swimming, and surfing, sunbathing, walking along the beach… oh and don’t forget that if you stay at one of the hotels there. Their facilities also may include swimming pools, hot tubs, tennis courts, and many more things.

So if you have a little bit of time, make sure you visit Costa del Sol in El Salvador, you’ll love it and will want to come back again!

Who doesn't like to brag about the city or town where we grew up or lived? I think we all do!

So I've come up with the idea of giving you and all visitors to Explore Beautiful El Salvador, the chance to brag about YOUR home town or any other Salvadorian town or city that you love!

As easy as that! Say for example that you really like Santa Tecla, you can tell us what you like about Santa Tecla and why you think it's special. AND if you have a picture of it, you can also upload it with your story.

I'll start off by bragging and telling you all about San Vicente where I lived most of my childhood. Then, I'll hand it over to YOU so you can share with us your good memories of El Salvador.

It should be a lot of fun for all of us and we can all share something about our special "rinconcito" in El Salvador!

More details and a link coming soon!
