What’s new on our siteAs promised, we have finished the page where YOU get to brag about El Salvador and any particular city, town, village or place you like. YOUR El Salvador is a page for you, you can brag about any city, tell great stories about El Salvador, ask questions, answer questions and comment on other people’s stories. It’s YOUR El Salvador page. Make this page a fun, interesting and awesome page were we can all learn about El Salvador. I promised I would start, so I wrote about San Vicente, where I grew up. It’s a great city with many tourist attractions and idiosyncrasies. So now, it’s YOUR turn, go there right now and make as many contributions as you want... This is YOUR page!! We have also added a page about the Central America Culture with great Central America travel tips to keep mind when travelling to any country in Central America. We've also revamped our El Salvador Culture page; it’s now got more fun and practical information about the culture and what you can expect to see when you visit El Salvador. El Salvador news headlinesGreat news everyone, some may already know but El Salvador is the winner of the 2009 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship beating Costa Rica 6-3. This is El Salvador’s first regional title since 1943! Most of the players are fishermen from Chirilagua, Espiritu Santo and the area, but they sure know how to play beach soccer. Congratulations to all of them!! 2010 Soccer World Cup hopes remain alive for El Salvador. Winning over Costa Rica 1-0 and with 2 remaining matches El Salvador soccer team’s hopes are still alive but slim. Right now El Salvador is #5 in the North/Central America and Caribbean group. The first 3 places advance directly into the World Cup while #4 will play off for the final spot against team #5 from the South America group. El Salvador plays Mexico next on October 10th and the last match will be with Honduras on October 14th. Let’s hope they can make it happen this year!! Wow, even if they don’t advance to the World Cup, they sure have come far this time – way to go, arriba con la Selección!!! In SeptemberSeptember is another busy month in El Salvador with all the Independence Day celebrations. As usual, there are parades and ceremonies through out the country. After the September 15th celebrations, all returns to normal for school children as the school year starts to wind down. I’m sure the kids are looking forward to their time off! Featured Hot SpotEl Boquerón National Park is our featured hot spot. El Boquerón is a great option for an eco-tourism adventure just a few minutes from San Salvador. El Boquerón is set in the San Salvador volcano of the same name and it has many look out points with easy access. This is an excellent place for avid hikers and family outings as well. There are many hiking trails around the volcano, many restaurants and eateries with delicious food from where you get an awesome view of the gardens and the boquerón (crater) of the volcano. We have a complete page dedicated to El Boquerón National Park on our website, check it out for more details! Coming soonEl Salvador photo contest!!!
