El Salvador news headlines

El Salvador has attracted the Emmy award winner movie director Giovanni Solano who will be directing the movie “Café para Tres” which has begun filming in Hostal Las Flores in Chalchuapa Santa Ana.

The movie will be based on 2 phsycology students at the University of El Salvador who travel to Los Angeles to attend a seminar on Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

They are working on bringing the “Café Para Tres” film to film festivals in North America, Europe and other countries so hopefully, it will make its way to the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival. Keep an eye out for it in your city too!

In January:

  • Arts and crafts fair in San Sebastian San Vicente.

The fair will exhibit 17 different types of arts and crafts from local artists. Of course the textile arts will be one of the main exhibits.

This fair has been held in San Sebastian for the past 21 years and has been sponsored by the local community center and by artists from all over the country. Its purpose is to give artists who do not have the means to promote their work, a chance to network and find ways to start up a business.

The fair is open from 9am to 9pm and will end on Sunday, January 31st.

  • Expo fair in Sonsonate from January 28th to Feb 2nd, 2910.

The fair is filled with fun and exciting things to do like games, food, petting zoo and more. The Market Place is a popular spot to buy all kinds of things you may be looking for yourself or your home.

The fair is open from 10am to midnight and will be held on the main street of Sonsonate.

Live music and shows are definitely a highlight of the day. Artists like Hermanos Flores, Fiebre Amarilla, Sonora Dinamita, Amaretto and many others are all taking part in the festivities.

If you are in the area, this is definitely something you should not miss!

Featured Hot Spot

La Palma is one of the most important artisan towns in El Salvador and so it's one of the destinations for the Artisan Tour.

There are so many things and places you can visit in La Palma El Salvador. One of my favourite is El Pital which is actually the highest peak in El Salvador at 2730m above sea level.

Hiking El Pital is a must, I really recommend it. Because of its altitude, you can see flowers and animals that only live in this area. El Pital is also becoming popular for mountain biking – that is if you are into extreme sports! Camping facilities are available here as well as many affordable hostels and hotels.

Another great place to visit is Miramundo, a cloud forest high up on the mountain region and so the temperature here is also quite nice! When you get to the top, you feel like you are on top of El Salvador – really!
