Our trip to El Salvador and our stay in Aguilares!
All in all we had a wonderful time. We Had lots of things to do for Christmas and New Year's, we stayed in the town of Aguilares for 1 month.
We visited the David J. Guzmán Museum in San Salvador and also went to the Tazumal ruins. There happen to be an archaeologist on his own time and he gave us a very interesting tour of the museum at Tazumal which was very informative - I wish I would have gotten the gentleman's name.
We also visited the San Andrés ruins and a guided tour led us around the site then we headed to Joya De Cerén which is only a few minutes away and took a guided tour there as well.
Unfortunately, We did not make the trip to Casa Blanca ruins, nor did we make it to Cihuatán which was right down the road from where we stayed - as we wanted to visit other places as well.
We didn't care much for La Liberdad as we felt that every where we went on the waterfront, we were almost dragged into each place. Unfortunately the water from the restaurant we ate at got me sick so we were not thrilled about that.
The Mayor of the town of Aguilares turned out for the Christmas parade through the park and gave a speech.
We stayed updated from the State Department and followed their directions so we didn't have any problems or see any
troubles!
Can't wait to come back again, we have many more places to visit there!
