Eating out is always so much fun, but it’s even more fun when you find that great restaurant that just “gets it right”. If you are out and about in San Salvador and are looking for a great place to eat, you have many options depending on what you want to eat. On this page I focus on great steakhouses in San Salvador and excellent seafood restaurants This list of course, is not complete, so if your favourite steakhouse in El Salvador is not listed here, tell us about it! La Hacienda Real: In my opinion, one of best restaurants in San Salvador as far as steakhouses are concerned Perfect for a special occasion like an anniversary... or if you just feel like having one of the best steaks in town and the prices range between $14.00 to $25.00 You can find them just across from La Gran Via Shopping Center, (503) 2243-8567. El Guapinol: Their specialty is of course steaks and with these low prices, you really can’t go wrong. Imagine having a full steak meal for less than $15.00 – amazing! They have several restaurants in San Salvador, so you can easily find one. You can find them at Metrocentro 2261-0449; Hipermall Las Cascadas 2283-0406, Multiplaza 2243-6731; Galerías 2298-2874. They also cater special events and offer delivery. La Pampa Argentina: Their specialty is steaks but their menu also includes delicious lobster and shrimp meals as well as other seafood delicacies. Locations: Escalón – 1k north of Redondel Masferrer San Salvador (503) 2264-0892; Zona Rosa–Blvd El Hipodromo, Mall Suites Las Palmas Colonia San Benito San Salvador (503) 2298-5817; Santa Elena–Blvd Orden de Malta near the American embassy in Urb. Santa Elena Antiguo Cuscatlán (503) 2278-6057. La Dolce Vita Resturant: You can’t really ask for more – this is a beautiful restaurant with ocean views and delicious food. Trust me when I say delicious food, you see, the chef is also the owner of the restaurant, he trained and worked for many years in Italy and England and he now calls El Salvador home. And of course, live music doesn’t hurt either! They are at Careterra Litoral, Puerto de La Libertad – only 20 minutes from San Salvador (503) 2335-3592. Restaurante Caliches: Delicious seafood like paella with calamari, oyster or clam cocktails, ceviche and let’s not forget that a nice cold Pilsener would go just perfect with your seafood meal… or maybe fresh coconut water – straight from the coconut? Their locations are Escalón – 87 Ave Sur & Calle Padres Aguilar, next to POPS icecream shop (503) 2264-1617; La Mascota – Pasaje 2, #153 Colonia La Mascota (503) 2263-7789; Santa Tecla – Calle Don Bosco #3-2 Santa Tecla (503) 2229-3592.Restaurante Automariscos: Restaurante Automariscos is one of the best seafood restaurants in San Salvador. Believe me when I say one of the best. How would you like to try pupusas with fish, shrimp, cheese and chicharron? Another one of their specialties is shrimp, camalari or snapper ceviche. And you can have your fish any way you like it – grilled, fried, baked or breaded. Ave La Revolucion #179 Colonia San Benito San Salvador. (503) 2243-3653 and also at Blvd Tutunichapa & 5th Ave Norte, across from Redondel Don Rua. (503) 2226-5363. Señor Tenedor: Señor Tenedor is a well known and established restaurant in El Salvador. You can delight your palate with delicious seafood, international and gourmet food. but they also do some of the best steaks in town. Just think you can have a rib eye steak for $22.00, yes, you read correctly… only $22.00 or a grilled salmon steak for less than $20.00 – amazing prices! Find them at La Gran Via Shopping Center, (503) 2241-0700. El Ancla Restaurant: This is the restaurant you want to go to if you are looking for great seafood in San Salvador. With over 20 different varieties of seafood cocktails, the problem is you can’t decide which to have first! Oh, and the prices are ridiculously low, some cocktails are less than $5.00. There is one for every taste – low fat, extra hot, and their house cocktail that mixes 4 different varieties of seafood. You’ll love it. Find them at Calle El Mirador & Ave Republica Federal de Alemania # 120, Colonia Escalón. (503) 2263-1835. I know I've only scratched the surface with the restaurants in San Salvador I've listed here, there are so many more great steakhouses in San Salvador.
